1923” Returns Soon! Here’s When Season 2 Hits Screens and How You Can Catch Up for Free
A second season of Taylor Sheridan’s Western series, “1923,” is set to premiere in 2025. And there’s no time like the here and now to catch up on the madness from Season 1.
“1923″ is a prequel to Sheridan’s extremely popular neo-Western show, “Yellowstone.”
Season 1 first premiered in December 2022 with Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford playing the lead roles of Cara and Jacob Dutton, respectively.
Season 2 of “1923″ is set to premiere Feb. 23, 2025, on Paramount+.
Those who missed the first season or simply need a refresher can watch all eight episodes on Paramount+. The streaming service is currently offering free trials for new subscribers, as well.
Paramount Network also will air episodes from “1923″ Season 1 on Sundays. The show’s pilot episode aired Sunday, Dec. 8, for example, and Episode 2 will air Sunday, Dec. 15, at 8:50 p.m. CST.
1923″ has been touted as a “‘Yellowstone’ origin story,” according to the show’s page on Paramount+. It follows the Dutton family in the early 20th century as they face the challenges of the Great Depression, Prohibition and the rise of Western expansion.
Season 1 takes place in Montana and sees rancher Jacob Dutton as he works to protect the family ranch. Like “Yellowstone,” there’s much more going on in “1923″ than the plot surrounding the Dutton family.
Another main character from the show is Teonna Rainwater (played by Aminah Nieves), a young girl from the Broken Rock Reservation in Montana who is taken from her family and placed in a Catholic boarding school, where things take a murderous turn.
It’s currently unclear what relation Teonna might have to Chief Thomas Rainwater from “Yellowstone,” but more is likely to be revealed when Season 2 of “1923″ airs in February 2025.
While much of the first season was filmed in Montana as well as Malta and Africa, it seems a good portion of the show’s second season was filmed in Texas. MySA reported scenes for Season 2 have been filmed in Texas cities like Austin, San Antonio, Lockhart and Bartlett.
