We have to hand it to General Hospital’s Jason: He’s nothing if not consistent! Because it was clear from the moment he confronted Sasha over carrying Michael’s baby where this was going. Jason would step in and claim to be the father to distract everyone from the truth, and in the process he and Sasha would fall in love.

It would be far from the first time Jason pulled this trick — with the tot’s own father, no less! He pretended to be Michael’s father to help Carly keep her baby away from biodad AJ. And he pretended to be the father of Sam’s baby (who, sadly, didn’t survive) to cover for Sonny with Carly. It’s just what the man does.

And to top it all off, when a hurt Cody spotted Jason and Sasha together doing a little baby bonding, that just solidified our theory. “Jasha” is on its way! “Sason?” Well, one of them.

But then we took a breath, stepped back and thought about it. Because in the same episode where they set this up, General Hospital explained why it couldn’t happen.

Sasha wants to keep Michael’s baby safely away from the negative influences in his family. Actually, we should amend that to families. Because she doesn’t want their baby mixed up in the destructive Quartermaine family drama or the danger that comes with being family to noted Port Charles mob boss, Sonny Corinthos.

And Jason claiming the baby as his own doesn’t solve either of those problems. He may have dropped the Quartermaine name, but he’s far more favored in the family than Drew is. And he may not be Sonny’s blood family (then again, technically neither is Michael), but he’s even more neck-deep in the mob world than Michael ever was.

So while it seems like they’re setting Jason and Sasha up in a baby daddy do-over, if Sasha actually sticks to what she wants, it can’t happen. But how often do folks in Port Charles do what they say they’re going to, especially when it comes to matters of the heart..

Secrets have a way of pulling people together, and Sasha and Jason are bonded by the truth now. If they start growing close, we may get a do-over whether they like it or not.
