General Hospital Spoilers: The Reason Jonathan Jackson Left GH, Guy Wilson Became The New Lucky

Longtime fans who were excited when Jonathan Jackson returned as Lucky on General Hospital might be dismayed to find the role recast this week, but they shouldn’t worry because it’s only temporary!

Broke the news that with the Tuesday, Feb. 18, episode, the role of Lucky on GH will be temporarily recast with Guy Wilson.

According to the soap, it’s just for a “handful of episodes” and Jackson is already back on set taping again and will be back on screen by the end of February. No reason for the recast was given.

Wilson is best known to soap fans for taking over the role of Will Horton from Chandler Massey on Days of Our Lives and playing the character from 2014 until he was murdered by the Necktie Killer in 2015.

However, this isn’t the actor’s first visit to Port Charles — back in 2006, he played a teenage Luke in a fantasy sequence where Luke and Tracy imagined what it would have been like if they’d met when they were younger.

In addition to his work on DAYS, Wilson has appeared in episodes of shows like Castle, NCIS, Bones, Hawaii Five-0, Breaking Bad, and NCIS: Los Angeles. In 2023, he played Det. Kevin Long on Bosch: Legacy.

Jackson debuted as Lucky Spencer on GH back in 1993 and remained until 1999 before returning for another stint from 2009-11.

After a brief visit in 2015 as part of Anthony Geary’s final storyline as Luke before retirement, Jackson returned to the role again in August 2024 for an extended run.

But again, fans shouldn’t worry that his run has been cut short — this is just a temporary replacement so the storyline won’t be interrupted by Jackson’s brief absence!
