General Hospital Spoilers: Is Portia About To Expose Drew’s Sinister Past?

General Hospital spoilers and updates tease Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) is determined to put an end to Drew Cain’s (Cameron Mathison) blackmail tactics. To do this, she’s delving into his medical history in search of incriminating information.

Portia Could Be Onto Something With Her Desperate Measures

Portia is feeling overwhelmed because Drew is causing chaos in her life. After Brad Cooper (Parry Shen) informed Selina Wu (Lydia Look), who then passed the information to Drew, the congressman is now aware that Portia altered Heather Webber’s (Alley Mills) test results.

This puts Portia at risk of losing her medical license due to blackmail, facing possible prison time, and jeopardizing her marriage to Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner), despite having already confessed to him.

General Hospital Spoilers: Is Portia About To Expose Drew's Sinister Past?

Recently, Portia mentioned to Ava Jerome (Maura West) that she is reviewing Drew’s medical files in hopes of finding something to use against him, but Ava warned her to be careful.

However, Portia could be onto something significant—she might uncover a shocking secret from Drew’s past that could jeopardize his position.

Drew’s Dark Past Of Mind Control

Drew Cain’s behavior is becoming increasingly erratic, leaving Portia feeling desperate for a solution; she believes the answer to her troubles might be found in the medical files.

Since Jason Morgan’s (Steve Burton) twin was introduced, Drew has experienced strange health issues-one recurring problem, particularly since Cameron Mathison took over the role, involves mind control.

This issue has unfolded in two phases, with the latter being particularly unsettling. It draws strong parallels to the classic film The Manchurian Candidate, especially in how it relates to Drew’s storyline on GH. For those unfamiliar with the movie, it takes place during the Korean War.

The Manchurian Candidate-What’s It About?

An American soldier fell victim to brainwashing by enemy forces, turning him into a sleeper agent for an assassination plot against a presidential candidate.

This scheme aimed to help the bad guys take over the US government, and the soldier could be activated by a playing card, possibly the Queen of Hearts.

Interestingly, Drew’s history closely mirrors this storyline, as fans may remember that he has experienced mind control in two distinct ways.

Initially, Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) implanted a microchip in Drew’s brain, giving her the ability to manipulate him.

This occurred before he was introduced as Jake Doe (Billy Miller), and Helena intended to use him as her personal assassin.

Helena Initially Wanted Jason, But The Memory Swap From Drew Wouldn’t Take

She originally desired his twin brother Jason, but he had significant brain damage from a car accident caused by AJ Quartermaine (Sean Kanan) when he was driving under the influence.

Therefore, Helena found his twin Andrew Cain and had a microchip implanted in his brain to control him; although Andrew lacked many of his own memories, he inherited Jason’s.

Later the microchip was removed by Dr. Patrick Drake (Jason Thompson) with the help of Dr. Robin Scorpio-Drake (Kimberly McCullough), thinking he was Jason due to their identical appearance.

This surgery should be documented in his medical records at GH; eventually, it was revealed that Drew had a deeper layer of psychological programming.

Brainwashing By Peter August When Drew Again Was Kidnapped By The Cassadines

Cesar Faison’s (Anders Hove) son, known as Henrik Faison or Peter August (Wes Ramsey), had used Drew as a covert hitman, when Cameron Mathison took over the role of Drew.

Instead of using a playing card like in The Manchurian Candidate, a tarot card was used to activate Drew. Peter held Drew captive for two years while everyone believed he had died in a plane crash.

During that time, Peter could have used him to carry out kidnappings and murders, and Drew had no memory of these actions afterward. This raises the question: could Congressman Drew still be a mind-controlled assassin?

Drew Was Never Officially Deprogrammed

After Jason sacrificed himself to save Drew, there is no evidence that Drew was ever deprogrammed from this additional layer of brainwashing, even though they had figured out the tarot card activation.

Jason “turned Drew off” before he became trapped in a tunnel on Cassadine Island and was thought to be dead for the second time.

When Drew returned to Port Charles after being rescued by Jason, he was anxious about the possibility of being reactivated; all it would take was the right tarot card and activation phrase.

Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) attempted to trigger Drew’s mind control, but they outsmarted him by giving him the wrong tarot card, so it didn’t work-Peter never shared the necessary information with him.

Portia And Curtis Need To Compare Notes, She Needs To Tell Him Her Medical Records Plan

Portia is investigating Drew’s medical records, which could reveal some important information; while the second programming might not be documented, the microchip brain surgery should be included in his file.

Additionally, Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) is aware of the second layer because Drew shared that information with him after returning from the dead.

Curtis is informed about everything, including the memory mapping and the actions of Peter and Victor; if Portia brings up the microchip with Curtis, he may inform her about the other programming.

Since Drew was never deprogrammed, he remains an active assassin, just waiting to be activated for harmful purposes. That’s not ideal for someone in Congress, is it?

A Scandal That Would Ruin Drew’s Political Career

Just to remind you, Jason is aware of the specific tarot cards and code phrases that can turn Drew on and off. His twin shared all the details with him, and Jason saw it firsthand when they were stuck together in Greece.

There was a moment when Drew became quite unstable and dangerous, prompting Jason to use a card and a code phrase to calm him down.

If Portia learns this information, she might share it with someone untrustworthy at a gossip magazine, ensuring it doesn’t reach Aurora.

If it becomes known that Drew is an assassin with a history of violent amnesia, it could seriously damage his reputation and likely lead to his removal from Congress.
