Chad Duell Takes Responsibility and Re-Signs with ABC Early – Fans Are Eager for His Return!

Fans really want Chad Duell to come back to General Hospital as Michael, but the actor left the soap in order to refocus his life, and at the time, explained he wanted to spend some time working on himself.

Well, it looks like he’s experiencing some results, and not just with his starring role in a new play, but in his mental and physical well-being.

“Been on a real journey lately… mentally and physically,” Duell shared on Instagram with a shirtless photo of himself looking toned and fit.

“Dropped nearly 20 pounds since December, but the weight that really mattered wasn’t just physical. Been shedding old mindsets, self-doubt, and comfort zones, too.

“Funny how the more you grow mentally, the more your body wants to match that energy,” he continued. “Or maybe it’s the other way around?

Either way, they’re definitely in a relationship… and I think they’re getting serious.”

Duell joined the cast of GH back in April 2010 to take over the role of Michael Corinthos from Drew Garrett. During his time on the soap, he earned six Daytime Emmy Award nominations, taking home the trophy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in 2015.

Fans were upset in November 2024 when Duell announced his exit from GH, but the soap said there were “no plans to recast” at the time, and the actor himself assured fans “the door’s open there for me when I am ready to come back.”

Michael is currently off in Germany recovering from his burns at a special clinic, and fans are eager for the character to return to Port Charles hale and healthy again.

genIf that day comes, and it’s Duell in the role, they’re going to see a whole new Michael on screen courtesy of the changes his portrayer has been making in his own life.

“Still a work in progress,” Duell concluded, “but I’m proud of the path I’m on. Growth isn’t always loud, but it shows up if you stay consistent.”
