‘Saying Goodbye House,’ Young & Restless’ Eric Braeden Shares a Heartbreaking Video
Amid an ever-growing list of soap stars affected by the wildfires ravaging the Los Angeles area, comes the news that Young & Restless icon Eric Braeden has had to abandon his family home due to the encroaching threat.
Braeden shared the update on his Instagram account along with a positively heartbreaking video in which he explains briefy that his family has to leave, and says goodbye. The fires can be seen nearby in the clip, which he filmed by the swimming pool and captioned, “Saying goodbye.” See it below:
Braeden’s co-stars were quick to respond to the distressing post with words of love and encouragement. Beth Maitland (Traci) told him, “Prayers rising, dear one,” while Melissa Ordway, who plays his onscreen daughter Abby, said, “I’m so sorry.
Sending you so much love and hugs. Stay safe.” Collen Zenk, who is Victor’s newest nemesis, Jordan, on Young & Restless, expressed how heartbroken she was for him and added, “Oh, Eric. Stay safe.”
Tamara Clatterbuck, an alumni of the soap who played a character named Alice Johnson, also told the star she was praying for him. Many fans and followers also sent their love and support.

Maurice Benard, who plays Sonny Corinthos on ABC’s General Hospital, said, “That’s terrible Eric you OK” to which Braeden responded, “hello, MAURICE, nice to hear from you! I‘ll know tomorrow of we still have a house!” Braeden also responded to Melissa Ordway, who plays Braeden’s on-screen daughter, Abby Newman on The Young and the Restless. She let him know she was thinking of him and praying, and he sent back hugs to her.
Thousands of others have responded to his post, with the majority urging him to evacuate to safety and all wishing him well. Braeden’s castmate Courtney Hope, who plays Sally Spectra on The Young and the Restless, also posted a video of the fires and smoke during the day and what looks like driving through the sea of cars seemingly evacuating with the fires in the background.
From sister show, The Bold and the Beautiful, Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke Logan) posted a photo earlier in the day showing the orange plumes of smoke in the air. “Oh no…” she wrote on the picture. Since then, tens of thousands of people have been evacuated from Pacific Palisades, with many leaving their vehicles abandoned on the gridlocked roads to flee on foot.
By evening, approximately 3000 acres were burning out of control through the hillsides, with new fires being added to the list and more than 10,000 homes threatened. Overnight, Malibu has also been given evacuation orders. According to the California Department of Transportation, the Pacific Coast Highway was completely shut down near Topanga Canyon Boulevard.
